Winslow Farm Community Communications Committee:

The Communications Committee was organized to help WFCA improve communication among homeowners. This committee is investigating new ways of communicating using e-mail and the internet, in addition to old formats such as newsletters, U.S. Mail and local newspaper announcements.

The WFCA Newsletter will continue to be distributed once or twice a year, but we are hoping to reduce costs by posting the newsletter in pdf format on the website.

No-parking request for Wylie Farm Road

Residents are concerned about the parking situation on Wylie Farm Road. Tim Callahan, New Bent Tree, contacted the City inquiring about the process for requesting no-parking areas on city streets. As directed by the City, Tim e-mailed the Traffic Commission (traffic.commission@bloomington.in.gov) on March 27, 2008 concerning the WF parking situation.

The Traffic Commission meets on the 4th Wednesday of the month.

Letter to the Traffic Commission:

I am a resident of White Tail Run in Bloomington, and I request that the Traffic Commission of Bloomington consider erecting no parking signs along Wylie Farm Road from Henderson Street east to Bent Tree Drive. This is a residential street with considerable pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and the curving nature of this stretch makes it difficult to negotiate safely even without cars parked along the side. Two weeks ago, an accident occurred in which a driver collided with two cars parked along Wylie Farm Road just west of its intersection with White Tail Run. All three cars were totaled and there was damage to the adjacent property. Luckily, the accident took place in the early morning hours and there were no serious injuries, but there are several cars parked on this part of Wylie Farm Road almost daily, which presents a danger to drivers and pedestrians. This is particularly a problem during the morning and afternoon hours when student drivers are going to and from South High School, often at a high rate of speed. In that regard, I would also request that a traffic study be done on Wylie Farm Road to see if the current speeds being reached by these drivers would warrant speed bumps in the area.It is my opinion that prohibiting parking on this stretch of Wylie Farm Road will help reduce the risk to drivers, pedestrians, and residents’ property.

I thank you for your consideration of this request.

Tim Callahan, White Tail Run
